Getting sap from trees can be a hit or miss project based off of each tree.  Marshall County Conservation Director Emily Herring says the health of the tree makes a big difference on how much sap can be extracted.

Herring says now is a good time to tap your maple trees, you want temperatures to be below freezing overnight and above freezing during the day.

Staff will tap the maple trees because they need to collect a lot of sap to make syrup for the pancake breakfast in March.

The Pancake Breakfast is coming up on Saturday, March 7th.  People can get tickets ahead of time by stopping out at Grimes Farm or at the door of the event.  Save yourself a dollar and get your ticket ahead of time.
