A couple weeks ago, the Marshalltown City Council held a budget meeting to figure out how to fill the nearly $1.6million shortfall in the General Fund. Newly elected Mayor, Mike Ladehoff, says the city is about 75% of the way through the budgeting process.
Majority of the shortfall will be covered with LOST dollars, just over $1 million.
Ladehoff does not anticipate any further cuts to occur
The largest cut at the Special Council Meeting went to the Marshalltown Public Library when they cut about $125,000.
