A short bench for the Bobcat girls led to too many mistakes as the Bobcats end up falling to the Waterloo East Trojans on Friday night. It was a tough battle for the girls as they worked to make it a 4 point game with under 2 minutes to go, but the effort was not enough as the Trojans pull away for a 56-48 victory. On the boys side, it was Jacob Hayes hitting 8 of 8 free throws in the 4th quarter allowing the Bobcats to pull away for a 62-47 victory. Up next for both Bobcat teams, the Highway 30 rivalry, the Ames Little Cyclones are coming to Marshalltown on Tuesday. KFJB-TV will have coverage of the games that night beginning at 7pm.
Wrestling over the weekend had the Bobcat boys competing at the Iowa Alliance Conference meet. As a team the boys earned 2nd place, earning 176.5 points, while Fort Dodge was the winner with 199. The Bobcats had 7 wrestlers in the championship matches but all 7 lost in the finals. Nicholas Wise got his first loss of the season when he lost to the #3 wrestler Jaimon Mogard of Ames 7-4. The Bobcats will compete in the Cadet duals on Saturday, February 7th.
