Two cases of the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza, sometimes referred to as High-Path or Bird Flu, have popped up this calendar year in Kossuth County. Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig says both cases are unique sites.

He says these birds spend majority of their time outside and have more exposure to wild birds.

He is encouraging producers to increase their biosecurity measures.

Secretary Naig is encouraging producers to visit Iowaagricutlure.gov to learn more about the Bird Flu

Secretary Naig will be the guest for Central Iowa Today at 12:45 on KFJB.  The full interview will be posted online at 1pm.
