The State owns and maintains Highway 14 through Marshalltown. Updating highway 14 heading north out of town, from Anson Street to city limits on 3rd Ave. is a project the state is set to start in 2027 or 2028. There are a few things the city wants to get done before or part of the Highway 14 project.
That is Marshalltown Public Works Director, Heather Thomas. The City Council approved the contract with Foth Engineering for those updates with the project. Another hot topic Monday night was the Center Street Viaduct. The city has received a $1.2 million grant from the state for this project so the Iowa DOT is also involved.
As the weather warms, we will see more and more orange cones out as road construction will pick up.
