The schedules happened to line up where the Special City Council Meeting for the City of Marshalltown was Monday night and shortly after the library held a board meeting. The library received the largest cut, about $125,000. Joa LaVille, Youth Services Manager, says the timing was convenient.
The Board then discussed what that could potentially look like
Library Director, Sarah Rosenblum, said over and over on Monday night that if they go the interim route, Fink would be doing two peoples jobs at once. LaVille says everyone at the library has a passion for their job and they will find a path forward.
The Library is working through this budget cut and will do their best to stay open 7 days a week. Closing one day was something that was discussed if their budget was cut.
