Tonight, there is a special budget meeting for the City of Marshalltown.  Newly elected mayor, Mike Ladehoff, stopped by the KFJB studio last week to preview what is going to be discussed.

The meeting will take place at the City Council Chambers starting at 5:30, which is open to the public, and people will be able to watch it on YouTube, where the video will live.  Ladehoff says there is only so much that can be covered by LOST dollars.

The shortfall comes with the general fund which according to Ladehoff is about 90% employees.

With that in mind, that means the cuts have to come within different programs and services.

Ladehoff says the problem isn’t fixed with just one time solutions. Ladehoff says it is time to make sure we are on solid footing going forward, especially with the state legislature making property taxes a number one priority.
