Last year the Marshalltown Police Department responded to nearly 47,000 calls for service.  Police Chief Chris Jones describes what a call for service is.

He says this helps them measure officer activity and what times of year or areas of town tend to need more support and resources.  Chief Jones says the 47,000 calls is on par compared to previous years.

Chief Jones feels that it is important that his officers share what they are doing with the public.  Last year there were 2,417 criminal cases open and 2,056 arrests.

In 2025, Marshalltown Police made 7,801 traffic stops.  Chief Jones says traffic enforcement is where his department interacts with the public the most.
