As we turn our calendars to 2026, it is a good time to review statistics from the Marshalltown Police Department.  A full review will take place with Chief Chris Jones during Central Iowa Today on Thursday this week.  In 2025, the Marshalltown Police Department received 46,854 calls for service.  Those could be a welfare check, or a call for immediate help.

Of those calls for service, there were 2,417 criminal cases opened leading to 2,056 arrests, or 5.6 arrests per day.  Breaking down the data by month, each month is fairly consistent with an average of 171 arrests per month, the highest month being August with 225 and the lowest month being January with 133.  Yesterday, Chief Jones sent out a press release about an updated tool to help keep our community safe.

Marshall County Law Enforcement and Marshall County Crime Stoppers have launched a new system that allows individuals to easily and anonymously submit crime tips.  People can use P3 Tips mobile app.  Community members will have a way to quickly and easily access the tip line to report activity, ongoing, or suspicious activity.  This app can be found on both the App Store and Play Store.
