An update on the travel for the National Guard Soldier, Nate Howard, who was killed in Syria this past Saturday. Marty Mitchell, owner of Mitchell Family Funeral Home, gave an update on his Facebook page. He says the funeral staff is in contact with the family as they navigate the final steps before coming back to Iowa.
Mitchell was informed that there will be no activities associated with him coming home this week and they are unsure of when the arrival will happen. There will be an announcement of a return route from the airport so people can line the roads and bridges.
For cards, you may send to the funeral home at 1209 Iowa Avenue West, Marshalltown, Iowa, 50158, or drop them off as well. For other items such as food donations, they kindly ask you to pause until they know what the scheduling is. Stay patient and stay ready Iowa, as one of our own will be coming back after giving the ultimate sacrifice.
