The Iowa State Extension Office has worked to build “Little Food Pantries” across Marshall County for people struggling to find their next meal. County Director Amy Pieper shares how this idea began.
They have built over 20 Little Food Pantries across the County and the full list can be found at extension.iastate.edu/marshall. Pieper says the organizations that oversee the pantries have formed the Marshall County Food Insecurity Group.
Pieper says a lot of their last meeting was discussing the changes coming to SNAP benefits, or Food Stamps.
Governor Reynolds has submitted a voucher to limit what people are able to purchase with their SNAP card. Last year Reynolds was awarded a voucher for the Feed Healthy Kids over the summer.
