Yesterday, the Marshalltown Police Department arrested 21-year-old Marshalltown man, Damon Borton for Sexual Exploitation of a Minor and other charges.  The case originated from CyberTips submitted to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) reference imagery portraying potential child pornography located on the cloud service of a cellular phone company. CyberTips by NCMEC linked numerous images connected to the same cellular phone account, and were determined to likely have originated from the State of Iowa.  That information was passed through the chain to the Marshalltown Police Department where an extensive investigation was completed.

The Police Department executed multiple search warrants including a private residence, a cellular smartphone, social media accounts, and messaging applications.  Authorities found numerous images of minors of a wide array of varying ages, to include pre-pubescent ages, portraying sex acts and/or displayed in various states of nudity.

Borton has been charged with Sexual Exploitation of a Minor – Cause to Engage in Act, 3 counts, Sexual Exploitation of a Minor – Promote Film, 29 counts, Purchase/Possess Depiction of a Minor in Sex Acts, 7 counts, and Dissemination and Exhibition of Obscene Material to Minors, 17 counts.  Borton was transported to the Marshall County Jail where he is being held on a $367,000 cash/surety bond pending his initial court appearance today.
