This morning was a good reminder that we do live in Iowa and yes, it can get very cold here.  People may travel to see family and friends for the end of year holidays so here is a reminder to double check that emergency car kit and make sure it is stocked for the winter and cold weather.

That is Marshall County Emergency Management Coordinator Kim Elder.  She suggest having snacks like nuts or granola that will keep in your vehicle.  Another winter item to have in your vehicle is a small shovel.

Elder says people need to check their first aid kits to make sure they are stocked from any incidents earlier in the year.

It is good to look over your entire vehicle to make sure it is winter ready and you are prepared in case an emergency happens on a trip.
