Marshalltown will be selecting a new mayor as current Mayor Joel Greer is not running for re-election.  Gary Thompson and Mike Ladehoff are both current city councilors running against one another for mayor.  Thompson is an At-Large Councilor and at times speaks for constituents who may not want to speak themselves or are unable to make it to a meeting.  He was asked recently if moving from a Councilor position where he has a vote to Mayor with no vote, if that changes the dynamic.

Thompson says the agenda could break down the complex issues a bit more to make them easier to digest for the common person. Thompson has been on the Council for over 5 years, he says that he can be a better voice for Marshalltown as Mayor.

Thompson has said many times; he wants Marshalltown to be the best 28,000-person town.  Mike Ladehoff represents Ward 1 on the City Council and between both stints on Council, he has over 11 years of experience.

Ladehoff has been someone who has shown up in multiple places in Marshalltown over the last decade of storms.  He said his dad always told him, “If wishes were horses, beggers would ride”

Ladehoff is ready to roll up his sleeves and make things happen.  The City Election is happening Tuesday, November 4th.  Early voting is going on Today and Monday at the Election Center, 107 S 1st Ave. in downtown Marshalltown from 8am – 4:30pm.
