Weekly, the Marshalltown Area United Way stops by KFJB to give a report on how their campaign is doing.  Executive Director, Kendra Sorenson, says they have a goal to raise $900,000 this year to support 30 programs in 25 agencies.

Last week was their annual Power of the Purse event and those numbers are not included in the total.  Sorenson says they are still finalizing the numbers and getting their final bills for the event.

That total is just under the record set last year for the Power of the Purse.  Last year they passed $50,000 but that took an extra auction for a Hellberg’s Pendant and a silly board member shaved their head.  Learn more about the United Way at unitedwaymarshalltown.org
