Marshalltown Community College started their Esports Program by having Amber Lawthers win a National Championship in Mario Kart the first semester.  Since then, the program has won National Championships in a handful of titles.  Andrew Goforth, the Director of Esports for Iowa Valley, enjoys seeing the community embrace Esports.

Recently Goforth and his team was recognized for their hard work during these events as the Marshalltown Area Chamber of Commerce awarded the MCC Esports team with the Tourism Award.

Goforth says the program has come a long way since the first State Showdown

MCC Esports head coach recently said on KFJB that it is their job as a community college to be a part of the community.  Goforth echoes that

Goforth will be taking on a new role this year as the Esports Director and working with Ellsworth Community College to start an Esports Program in Iowa Falls.
