There was a switch in the summer food assistance program, Governor Reynolds has tried a new Summer Feeding Program where families pickup $40 worth of food. Cindy Staron, volunteer with the Marshalltown Emergency Food Box, says people are starting to figure it out.
Staron wanted to give a shoutout to all the volunteers that have stepped up to help as this was a big project to take over.
This program is for families with school aged children, ages 4 – 18. They are eligible to pick up food once a month, but there are two different times.
Staron says they have asked families who are picking up food for this Summer Feeding Program to come to their back door, or enter their parking lot from Center Street.
