Last night the Marshalltown Bobcat Baseball team played their matchup with the Mason City Riverhawks after the game Thursday night was rained out. The Cats were shut out for the 3rd and 4th straight games as the Riverhawks swept the doubleheader 6-0 and 14-0. Following the losses, the Bobcats have now lost 13 of their last 14 games following the 3-0 start to the year. They have also failed to score a run in 5 of their last 7 games. Relief may be on the way though as the Cats’ next opponent on Monday is a familiar one, the Des Moines North Polar Bears, a team the Bobcats flattened to start the year, 19-1 and 21-0.

As for Bobcat softball, their doubleheader against Mason City still sits in the air following a rainout on Thursday, but they did kick off day one of the Dave Lee Softball tournament yesterday as they took on BCLUW. The Cats got on the board early going up 2-0 in the top of the first, but that was where the positives ended as the Comets would put up a 6-spot in the bottom of the first and would go on to score four more runs throughout the game, taking down the Cats 10-2. The Cats fell to 4-10 on the year while the Comets soar to 10-1. Marshalltown will take on South Hardin and AGWSR today in day 2 of the tournament as they look to get back in the win column.
