Now that Spring has sprung, people may be thinking about that garden and what or how to plant different fruits and veggies or flowers. Chelsea Llewellyn, Program Coordinator for the Iowa State Extension Office and leader of the Master Gardeners, says it is easiest to start with a raised bed, then planting directly into the ground.
She says it is also easier to use as some people have a hard time getting up and down from the ground. It should also help keep some weeds out of the garden. She talks about what would be easy to start with in your garden.
Llewellyn shares that the Master Gardeners are having their plant sale the Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend. That is a great place to find healthy transplants for your garden or home.
