The Center Street Viaduct was discussed last year by the City Council before the finger joints were eventually replaced. The City Council decided to try and find some grant money to help with the project and potentially do a big fix at a later date.
That is Marshalltown Public Works Director Heather Thomas talking earlier this week on KFJB. She mentions that overall the Center Street Viaduct project has a $4million tag.
Thomas says that there is currently a weight restriction on the Viaduct at the moment of 20 tons. Once the viaduct is fixed, hopefully that will remove the limit.
