Dr. Kristie Fisher, President of Iowa Valley Community College District, was announced that she will be taking the Chancellor and President position with Kirkwood Community College. The announcement was made Thursday in Cedar Rapids. 10 years ago, Dr. Fisher was the Vice President at Kirkwood, and she now returns as the top dog. She initially tried for the president position back in 2018 but Dr. Lori Sundberg was chosen because she has president experience. After gaining 4 years of presidential experience with Iowa Valley through, what could be called some of the toughest years for educators. Kirkwood opened a national search for candidates, narrowed it down to 24, and Dr. Fisher was chosen from that pool as the 2nd female president at Kirkwood Community College. Dr. Sundberg plans to step down officially in November of this year after Kirkwood’s Next Higher Learning Commission.
