The Marshalltown Community School Board of Education approved the budget for the 2023-2024 school year.  This year will see a drop in the property tax levy, the certified budget property tax rate will be $15.99 per $1000 of taxable valuation.  This is a decrease in $1.87 or 4.8% from the current rate.  The school district still saw an increase of 4.1% in the money set aside for instruction.  Total Support Services, such as student support services, instruction staff support services, and administration services also saw an increases of 4.1% in designated funds.  There are some incentives to bring in new teachers such as a $5000 sign on bonus for Industrial Arts Technology and Family and Consumer Science positions.
