The city did not receive the Destination Iowa Grant from the State to help pay for the water plaza project, the city is now discussion the potential reallocation of general obligation bond dollars.  The estimated cost is $1.9 million and the water plaza would be located near Mega 10 Park and the Aquatic Center on city property.  City Administrator Jessica Kinser said that they could take some funds from the River’s Edge Trailhead project and push that back a fiscal year.  Many Councilors brought up issues, Isom doesn’t want the city to build a plaza then leave it “high and dry”.  Kell mention that they could take out some of the features that were added to attract the grant, to save the city some money.  Eventually the vote to reallocate funds was shot down 6-1 with Ladehoff the lone vote in support.
