A train derailment in Iowa Falls yesterday led to several street intersections in the community being blocked off for a time while crews diligently worked to return things to normal. According to a Union Pacific Railroad spokesperson, at around 12:15pm, 2 Union Pacific rail cars filled with sand derailed in an area south of West Oaks Street. No injuries were reported. Work is underway to clean up, clear & repair the track, which is currently closed to train traffic. 5 railroad crossings in the community were initially closed due to the incident, but were reopened again later in the evening. The cause of the derailment is still being investigated by Union Pacific Railroad officials.
