At Tuesday’s meeting, the Marshall County Board of Supervisors formally approved using more than one-point-two million dollars in revenues from the American Rescue Plan Act to help finance vital necessities within the county.

The largest funding appropriation – $1 million – will go toward the replacement of windows at the administration building of the sheriff’s office.

Other notable areas that ae earmarked for ARPA funding include court records scanning, a cloud backup server, utility expenses at the Orpheum Theater, and additional radios and base units utilized by the secondary roads department.

The county board declined taking action on a proposal by Assistant County Attorney Sarah Tupper that would have allowed for the creation of a mental health court. The program would have been funded by ARPA revenues for up to a full year.

Supervisors later approved a motion to partner with individual cities throughout Marshall County in submitting a FEMA grant application for the county siren project.

A 20-year service award was also presented to county jailer Tom Heil with a five-year service award being presented to Court Security Officer Doug Bausman.
