Voters in the South Tama School District will head to the polls next Tuesday to vote on a proposal to build a new middle school. The existing middle school has served the district for 104 years, and Superintendent Dr. Jared Smith says its time to upgrade it. The proposal would allow the district to build a new school adjacent to the high school at an expected cost of $28.7 million dollars.

Smith says the proposal if passed, would NOT result in any property tax increases. The ballot explains the three portions of the equation that would make that possible and all three questions on the ballot need approval for the project to move ahead.
