By the time we get to Halloween, the City of Marshalltown may e ready to awards bids to begin work on the renovation and rebuild of the Veteran’s Memorial Coliseum.

The City Council last night recommended a resolution be brought to the next Council meeting to set a public hearing in order to get bids and begin work.

Co-Chair of the fundraising committee for the project, Steve Storjahan complimented the volunteers who have raised over one million of the roughly $3.7 million needed for the project but noted their work is not over yet. He noted he’s expecting more good news from alumni classes of MHS

Updated project costs show an increase of 19-thousand dollars since January’s last figures. The big increase is the cost of HVAC units due to imposed tariffs from China.
