Eight bids were submitted for the demolition of the former home of the Marshalltown Senior Citizen’s Center at 20 East State Street. The lowest bid of nearly 192 thousand dollars was accepted from Lansing Brothers Construction by the Marshalltown City Council.  The original estimate was 360-thousand dollars. The City’s insurance paid over 600-thousand dollars on the damage. What will be done with the difference in insurance money versus demolition costs will be determined once the demo is completed.
