To say that many things did not go as planned for the Opening weekend of the Iowa Speedway may be an understatement. But the Newton track made it, despite the downpour on Saturday which resulted in the postponement until Sunday of the NASCAR Gander Truck M&M’s 200.

Then the winner of that race on Sunday, Ross Chastain was not the winner. That’s because a post-race inspection showed Chastain’s truck to be too low in the front. He was disqualified as the race winner and runner-up Brett Moffitt was elevated to the win, even though he had not led at all during the race.

Meantime, Christopher Bell took yesterdays NASCAR Infinity Circuit City 250. Bell swept all three stages of the race en route to becoming a two-time winner at Newton.
