Lenihan Intermediate School is one of six in the state to be awarded a $50,000 grant through the Governor’s STEM Advisory Council and the Iowa Department of Public Education.
The funds are to be utilized to create opportunities for students and develop a statewide network of computer science knowledge.
Private businesses, such as Alliant Energy, Principal Financial, Microsoft and Google donated the funds for the program.
Lenihan and the other schools are expected to have programs up and running by the 2020-21 school year.
