A pair of accidents over the weekend took lives on Central Iowa highways.

On Saturday, a Utah man died when he lost control of his semi on Interstate 80 in Jasper County and hit a bridge support pillar.

Sunday, Jason Hayes of Guernsey died as he was thrown from a car that lost control on Highway 6 and 230th Street in Poweshiek County. Hayes was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the car, Matthew Gibson of Brooklyn was taken to Unity Point Health-Grinnell.
