Representatives of Alliant Energy, the Office of Consumer Advocate and the Iowa Utilities Board listened to comments last night in Marshalltown regarding the company’s proposed rate increases for both gas and electric.

While many acknowledged the work Alliant did post tornado last July, most of those in the room at DeJardin Hall seemed to feel the 25 percent base rent increase didn’t seem justified.

The Iowa Utilities Board will be holding several more of these meetings around the state before holding final hearings later in the year.
