Several weeks before July 19th and that tornado, local business Thompson True Value had a “pre-disaster”. The roof trusses on the building collapsed and owner Dave Thompson and his family were wondering how bad it was. Just about the time they might have had if figured out, the tornado made it a one-two punch.
This morning, ground was broken for a new 14-thousand square foot Thompson’s True Value store, across the street from the damaged building, adjacent to Wells Fargo Bank.
The new store is anticipated to be open next spring. In the meantime, the hardware store has temporarily located to the north end of Marshalltown Mall.
