Before a meeting Tuesday of the Marshall County Board of Supervisors, Marshall County Sheriff Steve Hoffman said the tragedy in Pottawattamie County was an especially horrible one in which a corrections officer was killed after an escape attempt. He also says it is something to learn from in terms of looking for ways to make things safer for jailers and insure that they come home from work everyday safe. In other happenings from the Board of Supervisor meeting, the supervisors took time to honor five people for years of service to Marshall County, including Auditor and Recorder Deanne Raymond for five years of service. They also gave the okay to the secondary roads department to purchase a John Deere model road grader for multiple purpose use by the county.
