Marshalltown First Ward City Councilman Bob Schubert has died at the age of 78. He had served on the Council since 1992 according to City of Marshalltown officials. He did not show up for his job as a part time driver for the Marshalltown School District and a welfare check was made to his home. Funeral arrangements are pending. Mayor Jim Lowrance says Schubert was a faithful public servant and well liked and respected. in years past he had quite a bit of experience in umpiring little league baseball games. He also loved to play Santa Claus. City officials placed a bouquet of flowers at his empty spot during Monday`s meeting.
