The City of Marshalltown Police and Fire Advisory Committee met Tuesday at the Marshalltown City Hall. On Monday night the City Council opted to pick the old Econo Foods site at South 2nd Street and West Anson Street as the one for the proposed new police and fire stations for the city. City officials admit there is a lot of work to be done if a bond referendum is to be placed on the election ballot for a yes/no vote on August 2nd of this summer. At the Council meeting the architectural firm of Prochaska and Associates estimated the cost of the project to be some 17 million dollars.
