The Ames area got hit with flash flooding Thursday night and Friday morning. The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning as a slow moving rain event passed over the area. The usual flood prone areas of Ames were victimized as the waters of the Skunk River and Squaw Creek became swollen. The area got a lot of rain. Crests on the Squaw Creek and the Skunk river were pending. By comparison this morning in Marshalltown the rainfall total over the last 36 hours as 1.11 inches of rain. The next best chance of rain for Marshalltown according to the forecast appears to be tomorrow night in Sunday day time hours.
