Residents of Green Mountain were brought up to date on the status of a long-awaited sewer project being proposed for the community at a public meeting on Wednesday.

Kristie Wildung from the Iowa Regional Utilities Association provided an update on the project during a public meeting held at the Green Mountain Community Center.

Initial planning for the project began three years ago, but funding and land acquisition issues caused the project to be put on hold until further notice.

Wildung noted that developers are diligently trying to work through the latest funding issues and fulfill all of the USDA requirement so the project can once again move forward.

Person attending the meeting noted ongoing concerns with recurring days and costs involved with completing the project.

Wildung expects the project to finally get going sometime this fall with the work to be completed in the spring of 2023.
