The Veterans Affairs Director for Hardin County has resigned from that position after providing five full years of dedicated service to local veterans and their families.

At Wednesday’s meeting, the Hardin County Boar of Supervisors formally approved the resignation of Bernie Koehrsen, who has served as Veterans Affairs Director for the county since 2017.

Koehrsen’s last day on the job was May 16th.

In March, the Hardin County Supervisors discussed the possibility of entering into a 28E Agreement with Grundy County that would have allowed for Grundy County Veteran’s Affairs Director Janetta Miller-Buck to handle the same duties in Hardin County, due to the fact that Koehrsen was on a leave of absence because of personal reasons.

\The agreement negotiated by Hardin County was not approved by the Grundy County Supervisors.

After the Hardin County board approved Koehrsen’s resignation, the county Veteran’s Affairs Commission indicated it would work to advertise the position as soon as possible.
