As of press time Marshalltown had received .47 of an inch of rain from storms that moved through the area early Wednesday morning. Watches and warnings were issued. Detection systems reported 3,000 lighting strikes due to storms from Iowa to Chicago in 15 minutes time – 549 of those lightning strikes were in central Iowa alone. Power outages were reported in Linn, Jones, and Johnson counties. Power had been reported out earlier in the Carroll and Auburn areas of western Iowa. Small hail was reported at Ankeny. Strong wind reports were also received – 63 miles-per-hour at the Eastern Iowa Airport, 60 miles-per-hour at New Providence. Strong winds were reported at Stanhope, with wind damage being reported at Charles City, Carroll, and Odgen. There were lingering flash flood warnings posted for Jones and Linn Counties.
