A Storm moved through Hardin and Marshall Counties on Thursday. The storm produced .23 hundreths of an inch of rain for Marshalltown which had a total on the day of .67 hundreths of an inch. Resident April Stewart took a picture and put it on social media of a cloud in which a small funnel cloud was forming however it did not touch the ground. Severe thunderstorm warnings were posted for Hardin and Marshall Counties. Skies got dark quickly during the four o’clock hour in Marshalltown as heavy rain blew through with a peak wind gust of 40 miles per hour. Thunderstorm wind damage was reported at Denver Iowa. Baseball games featuring West Marshall versus Gladbrook Reinbeck and Newton versus Des Moines North were among the postponements as a result. The temperature went from a high of 80 down to 65 as a result of the storm and then back up again to 74 after the sun came back out. In recent days Marshalltown has received 1.70 inches of rain to combat drought concerns which are being raised.
