A large outpouring of love and support for the funeral of Charles Lanam of Marshalltown who was a resident of the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown and passed away with no family or survivors. Marty Mitchell of the Mitchell Family Funeral Home had put up a Facebook post expressing concern that no one would attend the funeral ceremonies, that was not the case as hundreds of people showed up on the grounds of the Veterans Home on Monday afternoon. There was active military, reservists veterans, regular people, veteran inspired motorcycle groups and police personnel. Lanam was from Fairfield and passed away at the age of 81. He served in the U-S Navy during the Korean War.
