Authorities say a Grand Junction man has been injured in a snowmobile accident along U.S. Highway 30 in central Iowa’s Boone County.

The accident occurred Sunday afternoon west of Boone. The Iowa Natural Resources Department says Damion Louk was heading east around 60 mph on the highway median when his left front ski caught deep snow near a culvert and he and his machine went airborne. The department says Louk landed about 150 feet away, near a highway shoulder.

He was taken to Boone County Hospital in Boone and then flown to Mercy Medical Center-Des Moines.

The accident is being investigated.
