~WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A West Des Moines officer is being credited with saving the life of a woman who suffered a heart attack at a store.

Fifty-six year-old Cheryl Burgess had to spend a few days in intensive care but was doing well on Wednesday. She plans to personally thank Officer Blaine Brinkmeyer as soon as she's able.

Burgess had collapsed at a Hy-Vee store in West Des Moines. Brinkmeyer, who was not on duty in the store, soon rushed over and performed CPR on Burgess until paramedics arrived.

Burgess' son-in-law, Terry Martindale, thanked Brinkmeyer on Wednesday and said, "There is no way to explain it in words how grateful I am to that man or to all the men that do the job that they do."
