WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A leak is expected to delay the summer season opening of the Holiday Park Aquatic Center in West Des Moines.
The opening was set for May 31.
Officials noticed earlier this month that the water level dropped about seven inches over 24 hours. That's a loss of roughly 40,000 gallons.
Director of parks and recreation Gary Scott says the cause and repair costs are unknown because leak detection and repair companies have yet to respond to inquiries from city officials.
