WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — Authorities in Waterloo are investigating whether a car shooting is linked to the beating of a man at a shopping mall.

Waterloo police say several people allegedly attacked 20-year-old Keith Devon Hayes on Wednesday night at the Crosswords Center mall. Several hours later, 18-year-old Tondrell Gary was brought to an emergency room with a gunshot wound to his shoulder blade.

Hayes suffered punches and kicks to the head and he was found unconscious. Allen's injuries are not considered life-threatening. No arrests have been made in either case.

Police are looking for any connection between the incidents because an argument broke out at the hospital among friends of both men. Hospital security contained the disturbance.
