Viesha is no more!

by KIX101.1 /1230 KFJB News Department posted Aug 7 2014 11:08AM
Iowa State University President Stephen Leath says he is canceling Viesha and also retiring the name after the event was a celebration of all things Iowa State for many many years.

The news was made public and official at a press conference at the Memorial Union on the Iowa State Campus Thursday morning.

President Leath told reporters that new events in celebration will be spread across the school year but he gave no firm timeline for doing so.

He says the conduct exhibited during rioting last spring that caused cancellation of the rest of the event will not be tolerated.

President Leath says the 250-thousand dollars expended on the event can be redirected.

He says there will not be a mass celebration that would cause future problems but they don`t want to diminish some of the wonderful things going on at Iowa State.
