Voters in rural area of Marshall County will be voting on the extension of a local sales tax on November fifth. And it’s a vote for a specific group according to Dawn Williams who is the Marshall County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections. "The unincorporated areas of Marshall County will be voting on the local options sales tax," Williams says, "It's time for the rural areas to determine that they want to continue to pay that tax in unincorporated areas, or not."
And there are a few changes to where certain people will be voting. This has to do, for the most part as to what cities will not be voting in their usual locations. These include:
These locations will vote in their communities, however, the location has diverted from the usual polling place.
And Williams urges that people remember this vote is specifically for those who live in the rural and unincorporated areas. But it is still an important vote."It's a means to shift the revenue," Williams says. This vote will shift the property tax to a retail.
Williams says that absentee ballots are also available. You can get those in person or online. All online information can be found on the Marshall County Election Department website.
