Scrabble Tournament in Marshalltown

by KIX101.1/ 1230 KFJB News Department posted Oct 15 2013 4:08PM
Before it was copied by the popular app Words With Friends, Scrabble was the word game of choice. The Marshalltown Public Library is hosting a Scrabble tournament for word lovers according to Sandy Gowdy. "No matter how well you play scrabble," Gowdy says, " whether you're a champion or a beginner." The only requirement? You're 18 or older.

And participants will get to play more than one game. According to Gowdy, "Everyone will get to play three rounds." After those three rounds the scores will be added up. And there will be prizes awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

Gowdy says it’s free and easy to get signed up. They ask that you either call the library or go in and register. Gowday says, "Just so we know how many table and boards to set up."

The Scrabble tournament will take place on Saturday, November second. It will begins at 1:00 in the library community meeting room.
