Possible campground at Green Castle Recreation Area.

by KIX101.1 /1230 KFJB News Department posted Dec 4 2013 6:02AM

The Marshall County Conservation Board held an information meeting on the design concept for a campground at the Green Castle Recreation Area near Fergason. Mike Stegman is with the Marshall County Conservation Board.

Stegman says the design calls for 45 total sites, five would be pull through, 40 would be the back in type.
He says recently the lake there has been drained because of invasive species of fish in the water.

Green Castle Recreation area is just 11 miles from Marshalltown.
The area includes a Gander Lookout Shelter, a Trumpeter Swan Pen and an Observatory that is used by area Astronomers.

Stegman says progress on the campground will depend upon funds that are available and will likely be done in phases.
